Rebecca Sycamore, St Mungo’s current Executive Director of Strategy and Development, will become the interim Chief Executive for St Mungo’s following the sudden death of CEO Steve Douglas, CBE.
Rebecca, who has worked for St Mungo’s for over eight years, will take up this position with immediate effect.
Joanna Killian, chair of the Board of Trustees, said it continued to be a very difficult time for Steve’s family, friends and colleagues. “Our thoughts remain with Steve’s family and friends and we thank all those who have reached out to offer their condolences. It shows how highly regarded Steve was.
“While the circumstances of this appointment are tragic, I am certain that Rebecca will be given the support she needs to lead St Mungo’s through a challenging time to ensure the excellent service we provide to many people in need continues and that Steve’s legacy – particularly through the work of the Kerslake Commission – will carry on. We will continue with this interim arrangement while we take time to carefully consider plans for a permanent appointment into this role.”
